Pigeons and doves are man’s oldest feathered friends. For centuries man has relied on the homing instincts of these domestic companions. The earliest recorded event was Noah releasing a dove from the ark, to see if the bird could find land.  Ancient Greeks and Romans were among the first to use them as messengers.  Throughout history these birds continued to serve man as messengers throughout the world wars. 

 

These “Racehorses of the Skies”, are true marathon athletes. Homing pigeons can instinctively find their way home from great distances.  Through proper breeding, care, and training, these birds are conditioned to fly hundreds of miles in one day.  Transported to a common release point the birds race home and are timed on arrival;
